HHF-CFL Summer Camp
Ongoing collaboration and outreach effort between Houston Hispanic Forum (HHF) and Complex Fluids Laboratory (CFL), where K12 students engage in hands-on experiences related to complex fluids, suspensions and multiphase flows.
Career & Education Day
The Career & Education Day event organized by the Houston Hispanic Forum (HHF) took place on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at the George R. Brown Convention center in Houston, TX. It is estimated that more than 10,000 K12 students, parents, and teachers attended the event, highlighting the importance of education and future careers. Dr. Alba and his graduate students presented Complex Fluids Laboratory’s research through demonstrating exciting experiments on multiphase and complex flows to attendees. Complex Fluids Laboratory is constantly working on innovative ways of interesting students in STEM fields.
SHPE-CFL Summer Camp
Ongoing collaboration and outreach effort between Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Complex Fluids Laboratory (CFL). Under the supervision of the Complex Fluids Lab director and graduate students, K12 visitors enthusiastically practice hands-on experiences related to complex fluid flows and data post-processing/analysis.
NSF-RET Summer Camp
Through a three-year-long funded project from National Science Foundation (NSF) – Research Experience for Teachers (RET) in Design and Manufacturing – every year a group of high-school teachers are involved in conducting six-week-long summer STEM research in Complex Fluids Lab (CFL) related to the topics of fluid mechanics, complex fluids (hydrogel), and multiphase flows.
